MEMBERSHIP CONDITIONS

1. NAME
1.1. The Name of the LUG is Auckland LEGO® User Group, abbreviated AuckLUG.
1.2. The LUG is constituted by the following rules, and reapproved by the LUG members at their Annual General Meeting (AGM) held February each year.
2. THE PURPOSE OF AUCKLUG
2.1. The purpose of the LUG is to facilitate enjoyment of the hobby of collectionand building with LEGO® Bricks. The LUG supports the following age groups, the Adult Fans of LEGO® (18+, AFOL) the Teen Fans of LEGO® (DEFINED MINIMUM AGE 14+ years, TFOL), and of Junior Fans of LEGO® (DEFINED UNDER 14 years, JFOL) with the necessary PARENTAL LUG MEMBERSHIP communities.
2.2. To maintain Registered LEGO® User Group (RLUG) status with, The LEGO® Group (TLG).
2.3. Enable access for AFOL, TFOL and JFOL to get together as a club to meet,share, participate and grow the community within this hobby.
2.4. To annually organise and run a multi-day public exhibit (The Auckland Brick Show), along with several smaller one or two day shows throughout the calendar year.2.5. Using our passion for LEGO® bricks to make a difference within thecommunity and inspire all people to develop their passions to do the same.
2.6. Producing creative LEGO® brick events for the purpose of and inspiring others to share in the enjoyment of the LEGO® brick, to foster creativity in all fields, including, but not limited to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), Education, and Visual and Creative Arts.
2.7. Assist in education of the community through participation in AuckLUG events, related workshops and increasing the capabilities of the community.
2.8. Providing scholarships, incentives, and support for activities supporting LUG members at events external to the LUG, when possible, on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the committee.
2.9. Pecuniary gain is not a purpose of AuckLUG, but the LUG will maintain a bank account and hold such funds to ensure the ongoing activities of the LUG and other for general purposes as approved by the committee.
2.10. Co-operate with, give donations to or assist any other organization whose purposes are aligned with those of the LUG when possible.
2.11. To do all such other things as are reasonably necessary or incidental to promote the goals of the LUG.
3. MEMBERSHIP
3.1. There are five categories of membership within AuckLUG:
3.2. Members are defined as follows:
3.2.1. AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO®) – Membership is for adult members 18 years or older who intend on being active members, attend LUG related activities, with full rights and membership privileges, and maintain financial status. This membership category is also for Parents, Guardians or Caregivers of TFOL & JFOL members as per 3.2.2 & 3.2.3. Who can then, in their own right, receive the benefits and privileges of their membership.
3.2.2. TFOL (Teen Fan of LEGO®) – Membership is for teenage members from 14 years of age who intend to be active members and attend LUG-related activities, with limited rights and membership privileges.
3.2.3. JFOL (Junior Fan of LEGO®) are members under the age of 14. A caregiver must supervise Junior Members at all events; AuckLUG is not responsible to the care of Junior members. Application for Junior Members can be made via written request and needs approval from the committee. Junior Member status does not qualify for any of the AFOL Member benefits.
3.2.4. Associate Member is recommended for active members of other LUGs whowish to maintain contact with AuckLUG but not maintain active membership, or for former Full AFOL or TFOL members. There is no membership fee to be an associate member. Associate Member status does not qualify for any of the Full AFOL/TFOL Member rights and privileges.
3.2.5. Life Members – Full adult members of long-standing service may be granted Membership. Life members retain the full rights and privileges of
membership, but without the obligation of paying the annual membership
fee.
3.2.6. All applicants for membership will be provisional and considered as Associate members until the applicant has achieved the requirements for “active” status as outlined in 3.3.1., and the applicant has been approved by the committee.
3.3.1. Decisions on granting provisional members full status shall be made by the committee, with input from other LUG members as appropriate. Applicants may require mentoring, or an extended period.
3.3.2. The Committee may temporarily alter the criteria for “active” status in a year when circumstances outside of the LUGs control limit the opportunities for meetings and/or shows.
4. MEMBERSHIP GENERAL RULES
4.1. The Committee to set the amount of the that year’s annual membership subscription at the February AGM for that calendar year.
4.2. Membership subscriptions are payable into the AuckLUG bank Account.
4.3. Membership subscriptions are due on March 1 st each year. The fees are payable by March 31 st each year. Failure to pay by this time will result in the member not being in good financial standing, and the member being considered “inactive”.
4.3. Membership fees are non-refundable.
4.4. A member can cancel his/her membership at any time by sending a written notice to the Committee.
4.5. Members are expected to conform to all rules of AuckLUG.
4.6. Members should conduct themselves, both online and in person, in a manner that does not bring AuckLUG and/or its members into disrepute
5. THE REGISTER OF MEMBERS
5.1. A register of members (“the register”), which shall contain the names, the email addresses, the telephone numbers and status of all members, and the dates at which they became members will be recorded. All Members will have rights to view and request to edit their record to keep it up to date.
5.2. The register will record members' attendance at AuckLUG events.
5.3. The register will record whether the member is active or inactive.
5.4. It is a member’s responsibility to ensure correct and current contact
information is recorded in the register.
5.5. Members shall have reasonable access to any information held about them as a member.
